PROFILE

"Born and raised in Taiwan, Lucy showed an interest in art as a child and began formal instruction when she was 12. Devoted to art, she spent all her free time painting the wonders of nature she saw in the world around her. After graduating from the National Taiwan College of Arts, she continued to study with master artists in Taiwan. Many international collectors have purchased her works during exhibits in Taiwan and the United States, notable during the annual Laguna Beach Art-A-Fair Festival.

Lucy Wang has achieved international recognition and respect as an artist and teacher. The beauty of her painting reflects her love of nature and demonstrates her exquisite mastery of the brush. One of Lucy's specialties is her enchanting three-dimensional silk painting, a unique style she created that enhances both depth and color. Her use of beautiful jewel colors, created from semiprecious stones and plants, flow from the delicate silk. This has an effect of making the paintings appear as though you could pick flowers from them; the cranes come alive, dancing in the snow before you; you can almost hear the birds sing, and sense the movement of their wings; the elegant fairies play their music in the sky with ribbons flowing in the wind around them - their joyful melodies heard fro the heavens above to the earth below.

Lucy continually refines her techniques and themes to reflect her love of nature, art and teaching. She has taught for more than 20 years in her studio at Spanish Village in Balboa Park, in the Crafts Center at the University of California at San Diego and at private workshops throughout the United States."

Lucy's work has been widely published in publications such as the Smithsonian Magazine, National Geographic, the National Audubon Society, UNICEF, and many others. She is the author of several books published by Walter Foster Publishing Inc. She has also appeared on several television shows.
