ARTIST’S STATEMENT

“My choice of medium is watercolor, pastels, and graphite. The eccentricity of watercolor allows for a broader spectrum of originality and creativity both in realism and abstracts. Pastels and graphite, with their predictable properties, creates a superb variation in shading texture in representational pieces.”

PROFILE

Cathryn was born and raised in San Diego. With the richness of the city's varied culture and scenic topography, Cathryn acquired a wide range of artistic interest. She ultimately chose art to be her educational pursuit. Cathryn has worked in advertising as an Illustrator and Art Director.

She received her Fine Arts education from San Diego Mesa College, UCSD Extension, and San Diego State University. Her Commercial Art education she obtained from San Diego City College.

Her works have been seen annually at Del Mar Fair’s art show, in which she has won many awards. She has also exhibited throughout the region and won many awards in numerous La Jolla Art Association exhibitions. Cathryn is a member of the San Diego Visual Artists Guild, the La Jolla Art Association, and the Allied Artists Association of San Diego.
