†††† Mario received his education from San Diego State University, San Diego City College, and the San Diego Museum of Art. He studied from 1965-1971. He has been active in the community for several decades. His work has been widely published and he continues to be highly active on several committees and considers himself as an "art activist." His paintings have won numerous awards and are in collections throughout the world, including the Vatican. His murals are all over the world, from Havana, Cuba to Prague in the Czech Republic. From Lima, Peru to Los Angeles and Seattle. He has also participated in exhibitions throughout the United States and in several countries. He was the founder and/or co-founder of the World Beat Center - 1994, Community Arts Center - 1978, the Centro Cultural de la Raza - 1970, and Chicano Park & Open Air Museum - 1970 (designated a Historic Site in 1980 by the City of San Diego, eligible for listing on the National Register). He was a Founding Board Membner of the San Diego Commission for Arts & Culture - 1988 - 1993. Mario also served on the board of the San Diego Museum of Art Artists Guild and is a current member of the San Diego Visual Artists Guild.
