PROFILE

"As an artist from Madrid, Spain, residing in San Diego, Julia has developed a career in painting. Trained as a biomedical scientist, she emigrated to the U.S. to do scientific research. IN a turning point of her life, she discovered painting as a way of purifying her emotions and confronting the dilemmas of everyday life. By giving them expression on the canvas she speaks her truth from inside out. 'I prefer the activity of representing nature to the study of nature,' she says, while focusing primarily on her art.
Growing up in a neighborhood in close proximity to the Prado Museum, she was exposed from early on to the great European Masters and developed an interest in the visual arts. Her undergraduate training in Art in the U.S. introduced her to the greatness of the modern and contemporary American and European painters. She has exhibited in solo and group shows in San Diego and received one of the 'Juror's Choice' awards at the Southern California Regional Exhibition organized by the San Diego Art Institute in November, 2004 (juror, Mark Quint).
Julia believes creating is an act of love and the best legacy we can give to others. Like her ancestors, she has crossed oceans and explored new roads. Her true passion is her latest adventure, painting."
