PROFILE

Gloria Skoldberg enjoys creating beautiful works of art that inspire others by using colors, expressing freshness and spontaneity. She looks at people, places and things, and seeks to exemplify their beauty. Combinations of color are intriguing to her because often new shapes appear through the mixing and blending process. Colors set the mood and evoke feelings.

For the past four years, Gloria has had the opportunity to spend time in her La Jolla studio creating artwork and teaching classes. Painting and sculpting are her passion, and brilliant colors are the common thread woven through various pieces.

A graduate of San Diego State University, with a Master’s degree in art, she spent twelve years teaching art at the Poway High School and Mt. Carmel High School. As a mentor teacher, Gloria developed a program for teachers to integrate art into the core curriculum.

She has worked for San Diego architects designing wall pieces and water fountains. Her work has been shown in local galleries, as well as at SDSU, Mesa College, Saddleback College, Bill Harrah’s Automobile Museum in Reno, Del Mar Fair, and Poway Performing Arts Center. She currently is a member of the San Diego Watercolor Society, San Diego Museum of Art Artists Guild, and several other local art organizations.

Gloria’s painting “Three Poppies” won best of show at a recent San Diego Hospice Exhibition. Her art pieces are also featured in private collections throughout the United States, Europe, South America, and Australia.
