PROFILE

Barbara Siegal came to San Diego in 1977 from Queens, New York. She graduated cum laude from Queens College in 1976 with a B.A. degree where she majored in Fine Art. She is also a graduate of the New York School of Interior Design and attended oil painting classes at the Arts Students League in New York City. Here in San Diego, she studied with many well-noted watercolorists. Although she recently expanded into oils and acrylics, Barbara’s first love was painting in watercolors. A full-time artist, she paints in a traditional manner, focusing on landscapes, seascapes, florals, and still lifes. Sometimes she paints from imagination. There are two elements that are recognizable in her work. One is the bold, brilliant and beautiful hues with which she creates her paintings and the other is the feeling of tranquility, which seems to come across in her work.

Barbara’s work has been accepted into many juried shows on local, statewide, national, and international levels, sometimes receiving awards. She has had many one-person shows at local and out-of-state galleries. Her work can also be seen in public buildings throughout the country. Many of her works are in private and corporate collections throughout the country. Her paintings have been published and reproduced several times. She is listed in Who’s Who and the American Registry of Outstanding Professionals.
