ARTIST’S STATEMENT

"Passions ebb and flow; my love of art began as a young child, and continued throughout my formative years, as I took various art classes and participated in community artistic programs. In 2001, after a 16-year hiatus, I began painting once again. I lean towards subjects that have a sense of mystery or seduction about them, whether they are human or inanimate. I've incorporated my love for masks in much of my work, adding to that theme of ambiguity, and in some cases, purposeful anonymity. I love to use bright vivid colors and metallic hues, as I strive for richness in all of my creations. My primary choice of oil as my medium also affords me the ability to play with texture; all in an effort to make the encounter with my piece more striking and memorable."

PROFILE

"After growing up and spending the first 30 years of my life five minutes from the Atlantic Ocean in Portland, Maine, my home is now in Carlsbad, California…five minutes away from the Pacific, with my wonderful husband, Jim, my beautiful stepdaughter, Kayleigh, and my handsome and spoiled 17 year old cat, Max. Since my re-emergence in the world of art, my work has been exhibited locally at the Escondido Municipal Gallery, the Off Track Gallery, the 101 Artists' Colony, the Calypso Café, Parioli Italian Bistro, and a solo private showing, Palates By The Pacific. I am a member and a champion of local community art programs including the San Diego Visual Arts Network (SDVAN), the San Dieguito Art Guild (SDAG), the 101 Artists' Colony, the Escondido Arts Partnership, the San Diego Visual Artists Guild (SDVAG)."
