PROFILE

 

     Ruth Platner came from Germany. She enjoys California living and the atmosphere of freedom to explore both, the outer and inner worlds. She lets her creative imagination run free, harnessing it only to reflect her optimistic view of the world and of its creatures. Vigor and Vibrance are among the elements she likes to convey through her work. “All my forms are in evolution, never static, to express my personal excitement about passing through this life of constant change.”

     Ruth studied for four years at the Hamburg Art Institute – The “Schule Fur Bildende Kuste”, - under Professor Hans Tietze, with a concentration on graphics and painting. She later received her B.S. in Art Education from the University of Wisconsin and subsequently pursued her Masters Degree. She taught art at both the High School and University level in Wisconsin and in California, she has also conducted numerous workshops.

     She now devotes full time to her own art. Her paintings, graphics, textiles, and ceramics have been exhibited in several Wisconsin and Californian art galleries. She has had many one-woman shows and participated in several juried art shows and festivals, winning numerous awards. Since 1997 Platner is the Director of the Oceanside Museum of Art – School of Art. She has also designed and outreach program for the benefit of Oceanside Public Schools.
