PROFILE
Born in Ha Noi,
Van Moch began his career over 30 years ago at the urging of his childhood
teachers. At age 20, he joined and served in the Vietnamese Navy as
a Political Warfare Officer. VanMoch has worked
in a variety of mediums: watercolor on silk, woodblock printing, intaglio,
oil, acrylic, silkscreen, and pottery. He has had many solo shows
at the Vietnamese American Association, Alliance Francais Library
(Saigon), in Hue, and Da Lat. At the age of 25, he won a gold medal
at the National Armed Forces Art Exhibition. In 1973 he won the Silver
Medal from the National Art Exhibition, organized by Esso Oil Company. His most recent
works, which have been exhibited in San Francisco, New York, and San
Diego, are strictly realistic. His works are remarkable for their
suggestion of traveling back in time, to a far away land. He is acting a President of the Viet Art Society, a non-profit organization of Vietnamese artists, and sits on the Board of Directors of the San Diego Museum of Art Artists Guild. |
