PROFILE
Roy Madsen studied art at the University of
Illinois, University of Wyoming, and American Academy of Art in Chicago. He has received honors that include the Stacy Prize in painting;
a Huntington Hartford Fellowship in Residence; a Screen Directors Guild
Fellowship in Design; and prizes awarded in juried competitions. His
commissions include numerous portraits of several important national
figures. He also created the heroic bronze of William Shakespeare to
head the foyer of the new Old Globe Theater in San Diego. His sculpture
was unveiled by HRM Elizabeth II of England in a major media event broadcast
around the world. Native American mythologies, and wildlife, have been lifelong
interests and these subjects provide content for his art. Roy has been
widely published, has won innumerable awards, and has had his work featured
in countless juried exhibitions throughout the United States, from New
York to California. Roy is a member of Allied Artists, American Artists Professional League, and the San Diego Museum of Art Artists Guild. |
