ARTIST’S STATEMENT

“I paint large allegorical, figurative paintings. I use my own experiences and choose imagery to connect these experiences to the collective unconscious. I reference mythology, art history, popular culture, and imagined images to produce large powerful pieces of art."

PROFILE

Elissa received her Bachelor of Fine Art from Columbus College of Art and Design. She received her Masters of Fine Art from the Maryland Institute of Art Hoffberger School of Painting, Baltimore, MD. She has gone on to teach at the Delaware College of Art, Maryland Institute College of Art, University of San Diego, San Diego State University, Southwestern Community College, and the Athenaeum School of Art and Music, San Diego.

Her work has been exhibited widely throughout New York, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and the San Diego area. She has also won numerous awards, was a Featured Artists at ArtWalk, San Diego,and been selected as a juror for the San Diego Museum of the Living Artist.
