PROFILE

Born and raised in Northern California, George had early interests in drawing and construction. He received B.A. and M.A. degrees in Architecture at the University of California, Berkeley, and practiced in partnership in the San Francisco Bay area for many years. Subsequently, George was appointed Chief Architect for the County of San Diego, where he served for over sixteen years.

Since returning to painting, George studied in workshops with nationally known artists; demonstrated for art groups; and has been active in art societies.

His studio is a great workshop, but his primary interest is in painting outdoors. George said, “there is stimulation in being close to the real subject and in the attempt to describe it in a fresh and individual impression. When the viewer reacts to a painting pleasurably and with enthusiasm, the whole activity becomes even more satisfying”. George is a member of the San Diego Museum of Art Artists Guild, the La Jolla Art Association, and the San Diego Watercolor Society (Past President). He has exhibited widely and has won awards in a number of juried shows. George recently passed away.
