PROFILE
Yee Wah’s kaleidoscopes
of color burst like rockets across the paper to form vibrant multi-colored
shapes and configurations that suggest much in the way of content when
in fact the painting is non-objective in concept and technique. Yee
Wah was born onto a family of prominent artists in China where she studied
at the Chung Nam Arts School in Wubai and subsequently at the New Asia
College, in the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Her father, Yuen Tsin
Yip and mother, Chiu Fang Poon were well known artists from Guang Zhou,
China. She married Kwan Jung in 1962 and moved to San Diego in 1963.
She is a signature member of the National Watercolor Society, CA; the
San Diego Museum of Art Artists Guild; and the Watercolor USA Honor
Society, MI. Yee Wah’s works
are modern abstract design painting in Acrylic, portraiture in Oil,
and traditional Chinese figure painting on Silk. Her artwork has been
exhibited in the U.S., Canada, and Hong Kong including Hong Kong City
Hall, 1970; the Art Centre Gallery, Rancho Santa Fe, CA, 1976; Jung’s
Gallery, La Jolla, 1978; United States International University, SD,
1982; MiraCosta College Kruglak Gallery, Oceanside, 1997; and the San
Diego Chinese Historical Museum, CA, 1988. She has won many
awards including First Place, Southern California Expo Arts Annual Exhibition
in Del Mar, CA, 1971; First Place in 25th Annual Arts Festival,
San Diego, 1988; Watercolor West Annual, 1973; San Diego Art Institute
annuals, 1973, 75, 76; and National Watercolor Society Annuals 1973,
74, 75. Second Place, Religious Art 1989 San Diego; and Award of Distinction
from Rockport Publisher in 1997. Her artwork has
benn featured in: “The Paintings of Kwan and Yee Wah Jung” by Fred Whitaker;
“Environmental Escape” by Jan Jennings; “Splash 1” by Rachel Wolf; “The
Art of Kwan Y. Jung and Yee Wah Jung” by Jan Jennings; “Abstract in

Best of Flower Painting 2 by Rachel Wolf. She is listed in the Who’s Who of American Art, the Who’s Who in the World, and the Who’s Who of Women and Artists of Chinese Origin in the North American Directory. |
