PROFILE
"Dorothy Jaques,
a traditional watercolorist, spent many years painting her impressions
of popular local scenes that reflect her delight in the beauty of
her Southern California surroundings. A native of New England (Fall
River, Massachusetts) she has spent most of her adult life in north
San Diego County, where the climate, colors and light have fascinated
her and led her to pursue an art education in the local colleges and
in private classes.
She has become
a recognized watermedia artist who now specializes in abstract expressionism,
'inner paintings' that reflect her life view and express her love
of color and design.
She has been involved
in the local art community since 1975 and is curently a member of
the Oceanside Museum of Art Artist Alliance, the Vista Art Association,
the San Diego Visual Artists Guild, the Carlsbad Oceanside Art League,
and the San Diego Museum of Art Artists Guild.
Jaques work can
be seen in the Vista VIllage Gallery in Vista and in C.O.A.L Gallery
in Carlsbad, California. Her work has been accepted in the Fine Arts
Division at the San Diego County Fair, in the Showcase Gallery in
San Diego and in Visions Art Gallery in Vista. The award-winning artist
has had successful one-woman exhibits at the Rancho Buena Vista Adobe
Gallery in Vista.
Travel here and
abroad, has provided subject matter for many of Jaques' landscapes
found in private collections in California, the mid-west, the New
England states and Paris France."
