PROFILE

     M. Sue Hiatt creates powerful, often large-scale paintings, boldly mixing media and imagery creating exiting, mysterious cutting edge paintings prompting international critical and popular acclaim. Her work often displays an unexpected fusion of both the oriental and occidental, evoking the mysterious scents, sounds, and sights of the Far East, but is firmly rooted in the colorful lively tradition of California art. Many years of experience in multiple painting and printmaking disciplines have culminated in this current mixed-media focus. Her large-scale paintings have been commissioned by a number of nationwide companies and corporations.

Sue’s paintings have been exhibited in Japan, France, and Mexico, as well as throughout the United States in National and International Exhibitions. She has appeared as featured artist in galleries and exhibitions, at symposiums and on television interviews. Her work has been published here and in Japan.

As an officer and founding member in several art associations, she has organized and implemented numerous exhibitions in cooperation with noted Washington, DC artists, curators of the National Museum of Art and with area college art faculties. For many years Sue has served on the Board of the San Diego Museum of Art Artists Guild. She is often asked to serve as an exhibition judge and to conduct workshops. Active in many art-related organizations, she has been a local representative to both SAG (Screen Actors Guild) and AFTRA (American Federation of Television and Radio Actors). As illustrator, designer, and owner of a graphic design company, she served as an Ambassador for the Chula Vista Chamber of Commerce and on the Advisory Boards for two East County R.O.P. courses, Commercial Art/Graphic Design and Graphic Communications. Her work is exhibited in galleries and is represented in private, public, and corporate collections in the United States and Canada.
