
PROFILE
Born and educated in Southern California, Elaine Harvey graduated with highest honors from San Diego State University. Since then she has lived primarily in nearby El Cajon where she also maintains a studio. She works in watercolor and acrylic, using traditional and experimental techniques, painting, and collage in a style, which combines realistic and abstract elements. Awards include those of the American Watercolor Society, Rocky Mountain Watermedia Society, Midwest Watercolor Society, as well as more than a50 others in local, national, and international competitions. An active participant in a number of art organizations, Elaine has served on the boards of the National Watercolor Society, Watercolor West, San Diego Watercolor Society, San Diego Museum of Art, and as a delegate to the Western Federation of Watercolor Societies. She has also served as juror for groups including the National Watercolor Society, Fine Arts Institute of the San Bernardino Museum, Southwest Watercolor Association, Central Coast Watercolor Society, and the San Diego Watercolor Society. Elaine teaches classes in La Jolla, California at the Athenaeum, in Palm Springs at the Desert Museum, and for art groups around the United States, and most recently, abroad. Her work and writings have been published in and on the cover of The Artist’s Magazine and in a number of books by artists and arts writers. |
