ARTIST'S STATEMENT
Pat Gilmore was
born and raised in Illinois. He spent much of his childhood and teen
years sketching primarily wildlife. After graduating from the University
of Minnesota with a degree in Sociology, he took on a career in construction
for 15 years. At this point, he decided to do something that was closer
to his heart and landed a job at the Wild Animal Park. From this point
on he has been re-inspired to sketch and paint animals. He is a self-taught
artist who is inspired by Rembrandt, Dali, Robert Bateman and John
Seery-Lester to name a few. " I really want to help people understand
and appreciate the beauty that surrounds them through my art."
If he can somehow get this message across he feels that much happier.
Pat is also an avid admirer of Native American cultures and will sometimes
use this imagery in his work. Pat currently does about five or six
shows a year in and around the San Diego area. |
