PROFILE
Jasna Gopic is
mixed media artist from Serbia. She finished college at University
of Belgrade, where she majored in Geography. About nine years ago,
she moved to the States with her familly. Jasna had always been interested
in art and experimenting and this is why she came across a unique
invention. Her passion is painting with nail polish on glass. The
artist is using glass as her canvas, nail polish as her paint, and
the nail polish applicator as her only tool.
Since she loves
adding many details, she often paints with a magnifying glass, and
some work takes several months to be completed. "My paintings
are never simple. They tell more then the story because it depends
on the kind of medium, surface, additional substances, and inspiration.
Every painting reveals another aspect of my imagination. I especially
love to express the properties of nail polish because in one picture,
there are two stages. One can be seen during the day and other at
night."
Besides using nail
polish, Jasna uses acrylic, oil, colored pencils, and photography.
Recently she had an exhibit at the Sterling Heights City Hall, due
to her achievement of Artist of the Month. Her work has appeared in
exhibits and personal shows in Europe and across Michigan, as well
as on TV.
