ARTIST’S STATEMENT

“This is a series of paintings that takes the art of Japanese screen painting as a point of departure for a melding of western with eastern aesthetics. The 16th and 17th century screen painters were among the first to apply reductive abstraction to a wide range of subject matter and themes.”
