PROFILE

Born in suburban Chicago, Joan studied photography under Michael Baruch at Barat College, lake Forest, Illinois and under Barbara Crane, at the School of the At Institute of Chicago. Joan strives to achieve classic elegance in her photographic and digital images. The focus of most of her work is still life and much of it created in her home.

Joan uses a medium format camera and develops and prints her own work. Images shown here are representative of her hand colored photographs, some printed on gelatin photographic paper and others printed on watercolor paper. Recently she has become interested in digital art and has had success in recreating some of her images and developing others especially for the digital medium.

In addition to the images on this site, she has portfolios of black and white silver gelatin prints and colorful images created by manipulating the emulsion of Polaroid film.

Joan has exhibited in numerous juried shows and is represented by a local gallery. Her images are found in many private collections.
