PROFILE
Tracy Black attended Kutztown University, which shares a history
with renowned Keith Haring, in Pennsylvania. Graduating with a Bachelor
of Fine Arts in 1999 and concentrating in Theatre with minors in Fine
Art and Creative Writing, Tracy became a pioneer for her University
as the first person to win the internship for Animal Kingdom's opening
at Walt Disney World in 1998. Her real training in art would come after
she left university and entered the REAL world where her work was widely
exhibited and is now in many prominent collections. Tracy currently
lives in San Diego County. Tracy attributes most of her knowledge to her dear mentor and artist, Ben Marcune. She derives her inspiration from the surreal Michael Parkes, Dali and Nick Bantock; who teaches with his art and provokes adults to read books including illustration. Tracy also picked up artistic experience working with the sculptor, Steve Tobin for over a year and aside one of Patrick Dougherty's stick work sculptures. Studying Roman & Greek mythology has leant a hand in the allegorical appeal of many of her pieces. Influence for this artist is her mortality. The mythos helps in understanding the beautiful follies of life. Life is fleeting. Art is Tracy Black's immortality. Mixed Media - 2D and 3D (Glass, Acrylic, Pastel, Paint Marker,
Pencil, Leaves & Recycled Material). There is value for the artist
in experimenting with different methods of creation. Tracy feels an
artist should push the envelope. Fear not what mistakes or criticism
this endeavor brings. Only fear not letting yourself exercise this great
and heavy gift of your imagination. The medium of the mind is an unending
resource. |
