ARTIST'S STATEMENT

"Color, light and shadow emerge into a visual story of my past, present and future. To some my story is clear and my personal expression has been grasped. To others my tale becomes theirs, it touches on a personal experience, an overwhelming emotion has been sparked by my art.
I truly believe art is a form of therapy that time spent on a therapists sofa cannot tap into. Expressive art reaches another realm of our brains, a place not many of us have been to since we were children.
I purposely will not limit myself to one medium or one style because as an artist and a person I certainly am not one-dimensional. I love to explore and play with different forms of art from modern and contemporary art, graphic arts, and interior wall finishes such as venetian plaster and painted faux finishes.
I attended the Art Institute of Denver in Colorado where I earned my degree in Graphic Arts. I then moved to San Diego where I am currently the Art Director for TransWorld Business. My fine art studio is in North County and I am actively involved in the San Diego Arts Community. Currently I'm a volunteer on the Oceanside Day's of Art committee and a member of OMA's Artists Alliance. I conceptualized and was the chief coordinator for the "Skin Deep" art show at the Expressive Arts Institute of San Diego to raise money for the Healthy Within Foundation. I also took part in the "Trashed" Recycle Art Exhibit at the Lab in Orange County and the Coachella music festival in 2005. I had a fun time participating in the Ocean Avenue Brewery fund raiser for the Tony Hawk Foundation in Laguna Beach where I created a one-of-a-kind skateboard deck for the benefit auction. I also am an ongoing participant of the Grrrrrl Power shows held monthly in San Diego.
I am an advocate for the arts to be taught in our communities. If the schools will not teach it to our children we must take the initiative to take them to creative venues, festivals and classes. There is a freedom of expression and a development to think outside the box when we encourage creativity in our youth. Support local arts and support the future of our community."
