PROFILE South African born painter, Narisa became involved in the art world at an early age. She participated in Young Art 86' displaying a figurative pastel. Her media use broadened to watercolor, then to acrylic and oil on canvas. At the age of 18, Narisa traveled to Europe where she learned to respect the detailed skill and beauty of the old masters focusing on the human figure. It was at this time she became focused as a serious painter and sold her first piece to a La Jolla store owner. In high school, she painted on everything and anything from jeans, surfboards, furniture to using icing to paint portraits on cakes. She freelanced as an artist painting on furniture at a local gallery and store and also apprenticed a local artist, faux-finishing and texturing private homes. While pursuing a bachelors in graphic design at San Diego State University, she took the equivalent to a fine art degree studying art history, illustration, painting and metal sculpture. Narisa has pursued a career, freelancing and part-time as a graphic design aside from painting. Through the years she has been commissioned and privately sold various pieces. Narisa has painted a number of murals for nurseries, a children's playground and private homes. Narisa's professional career began in La Jolla Gallery and Cafe, where she also was accepted into Art Prospect, La Jolla Village Art Competition where she sold both entered pieces. Her first solo showing was in July of 2000, held at House of Stems in downtown San Diego. A group of selected pieces from this event were shown in a number of downtown offices on 5th Avenue and in offices in Carlsbad. Narisa began to exhibit throughout San Diego. Each location to feature her work holds an opening to announce the collection. In the following months these pieces are continually renewed every several months when sold. During this time she expanded her collection, but stayed in the figurative genre mixing elements of vibrant color and slight realism. Using themes of jazz and R&B she conveys an atmosphere of expression and energy while painting women engulfed in martinis and wine, she invokes a tranquil and sensual mood. During the month
of March in 2002 a series of paintings were shown at the Belly Up, a
venue for concerts in Solana Beach. This led to a private exhibition
in Scottsdale, Arizona. Narisa work has been displayed in restaurants
such as Jim Kelly's restaurant, in Encinitas and Americana in Del Mar,
Kalahari Cafe in the gaslamp as well as Olé Madrid and Aubergine
downtown. She has been featured in Manhattan Restaurant in downtown
La Jolla, where 2 pieces are displayed in the Empress Hotel and in Mixture,
downtown San Diego. In October, Osteometrix, a education and treatment
center, hosted a showing with her mother Jenifer Broomberg, also an
artist. Other venues housing her pieces are Brazilia Skin Care in the
Golden Triangle, Urban Skin Care in Little Italy and A Piece of Brazil
in Point Loma. She has participated in Art Walk 2003-05 and the Gaslamp
Arwalk. In 2004 her work was shown in Santa Barbara at Mondial, where
it was on exhibition for several weeks. In San Diego she auctioned off
a painting in an event 'Take Five' to raise money for Jazz 88.3. And
has donated several paintings to Las Patronas, a philanthropic organization.

Mar. In November, an exhibition was held at Tutto Mare Ristorante where
